The consequences of drug-driving

As well as the risks to you, your passengers, and other road users, if you are convicted of drug-driving, you face:

  • A minimum one year driving ban
  • A fine of up to £5,000
  • Up to 6 months' imprisonment.

The minimum disqualification is longer if you’ve previously been convicted and, where a death is caused, the penalties are more severe, with up to 14 years' imprisonment and at least a two year driving ban.
