Tips & Advice
To stay safe on the road, follow the tips below:
- Always use the Green Gross Code; THINK, STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN, WAIT, LOOK AND LISTEN AGAIN, ARRIVE ALIVE!
- Always walk on the pavement or footpath where there is one.
- Never use a mobile phone or listen to music when near roads.
- Always wear a seat belt when travelling in a car – airbags are designed to work with seat belts – travel without a belt on and your airbag could cause serious injury or kill you.

- If you’re a passenger in a car does the driver scare you? You have a right to travel safely in a car, if somebody is abusing that right, speak up or get out before it’s too late.
- Do the necessary training before riding your bike on the road.
- Always wear a cycle helmet when riding your bike.
- Wear fluorescent clothing during the day and reflective clothing at night when near roads.
- Never get in the car with someone who is under the influence of drink or drugs.
- If you are in the car with a speeding driver, ask them to slow down.
