Green travel
Road transport produces 25 percent of UK carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, which is one of the main causes of climate change.
As car manufacturers are becoming more environmentally responsible, we are gradually seeing more ‘green’ cars becoming available.
As you are not driving yourself yet you can’t help the environment through your choice of car, however, there’s loads of other ways you can be ‘green’.
Being a green traveller means using modes of transport that don’t waste energy or pollute the environment.
You can become a green traveller and help combat climate change by:
- Walking to school instead of going in the car
- Cycling to school instead of going in the car
- Using the bus when travelling to school or for leisure instead of going in the car
- Car sharing with your friends to reduce the number of cars on the roads.
If more people your age walk, cycle, take the bus or car share there will be less cars on the road, less pollution and fewer traffic jams!
