Be prepared

  • Drive a reliable, safe, car that suits your needs.
  • Keep your car mechanically sound and ensure that you have emergency equipment in the boot; first aid kit, warning triangle etc.
  • Make sure that your mirrors, front and back windscreens are clean and properly positioned.
  • Plan your journey in advance.
  • Allow plenty of time for your journey.
  • Take regular breaks during long journeys.
  • If you are making a long journey or travelling on roads you don’t usually know then ask a friend along to help navigate.
  • Avoid travelling at peak times where possible.
