North Yorkshire County Council have been awarded £1.089 million from the Department for Transport’s Access Fund to deliver a sustainable travel project called Open North Yorkshire. This runs for three years until 2020 in Harrogate, Scarborough and Skipton. The objectives are to:
- help reduce congestion by increasing walking and cycling trips to school;
- provide targeted travel and journey planning at businesses and new residential sites;
- improve confidence of new cyclists through innovative training and route information; and
- reduce the number of cyclist casualties through a safe systems approach.
