Appropriate clothing

  • Appropriate clothing for safety at all times
  • Wear a good quality approved bike helmet and eye protection
  • Wear bright clothing so you can be seen; choose fluorescent clothing during the day and reflective at night
  • Wear good protective clothing that is weatherproof
  • Choose long sleeves, full length trousers, over the ankle boots, and gloves – even on a hot day
  • Buy the best safety clothing that you can afford
  • Look for the CE Mark or British Standard on all clothing, which shows that the equipment has been crash tested and offers good protection
  • Your clothes should be able to reduce your injuries if you come off your bike
