In 2013, 1980 children were killed or seriously injured on the road of Great Britain. This means a child was killed every eight days and serious injured every five hours.

Of these, 26 children were killed or seriously injured on roads in York and North Yorkshire. In 2012 this was higher with 32 children being killed or seriously injured in York and North Yorkshire
