A Malton woman has been banned from driving for three years after admitting getting behind the wheel while four times the drink drive limit.

Lesley Dawson, of Milton Avenue, was pulled over by police in Princess Road, Malton, at 12.50pm on Tuesday June 7 after they spotted the car being driven slowly and struggling to take a bend.

Dawson was asked to blow into a breathalyser after alcohol was smelled on her breath and she blew 150mg in 100ml of breath – the limit standing at just 35mg.

She returned the highest reading of more than 100 people who have been prosecuted in a North Yorkshire Police summer crackdown on drink drivers this summer.
Dawson admitted one charge of driving while above the limit when she appeared at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Thursday last week.
